Biking Cape Split

Sarah and I got out biking tonight, and we decided to ride Cape Split. It’s a beautiful hiking trail which takes about 2 hours to walk and ends up at the top of an impressive point which sticks out into the Bay of Fundy. Although it’s much more common to hike it, we really enjoy biking it, because it’s much faster. Tonight, it took us about 2 hours total, both ways, including a few breaks.

The Cape Split point

I would say it’s an intermediate mountain biking trail. It doesn’t have any serious features, but it does have a bit of elevation, and a couple of the climbs are pretty steep. But there are also some beautiful views and lookoffs along the way.

And of course, getting to the end is a nice reward in itself. Tonight it wasn’t even windy (usually it is very windy) and we had some nice light as the sky was just starting to get dim.

We didn’t stay long, because with the sky being a bit overcast, we needed to get back before it really started to get dark in the woods. A few years ago, they built a new trail going out to the split, so you can actually ride it as a loop, going out the old trail, and coming back on the new one, which is what we did. The new trail is a bit longer and has more ups and downs, but it’s pretty nice.

We didn’t manage to get out to Cape Split last year, so we’re pretty happy to make it happen this year!
